Accurate testings
To evaluate the maximum performance of our doors they are tested fully caulked, allowing us to verify the maximum performance the door will achieve.
With the aid of quality seals we are able to attain a dB rating that can be achieved in-situ rather than the theoretical maximum that is impossible to reach on site.
Sound performance revolves around the ability to reduce the transfer of sound from one area to another.
This ability is the function of the entire doorset assembly and the partition or wall that the doorset fits into.
Door Configurations
Doors can be used both singly or as a pair with equal or unequal leaves.
Other options including over panels and screens can also be catered for.
Vision panels can be included
in the door design
In fire doors the need to fit smoke seals is not necessary as many of the acoustic seals can include intumescent within the PVC carrier.
Door Frames
Door frames should be manufactured from hardwood, if fire rating is needed then the section should be a minimum of 70 x 32 mm. Planted stops are suitable. The backs of frames should be sealed with a mastic sealant to ensure that sound leakage is avoided.
Hinges that are fitted to the doorset must not damage or break the line of the seal, this will lead to deterioration in the performance of the doorset.
Manual Handling
Care has to be taken when handling Acoustic Doors, the average weight of a normal fire door is between 4050 kg. With our Sound 37, this increases to over 100 kg.
Using our acoustic doors meansthat the fire performance needs of the building do not have to take second best.
