New factory extension finalises expansion programme

A Shropshire manufacturing company recently held an official opening ceremony for their new factory extension.

Opened by Viscount Windsor, the new facility is the final part of an expansion programme at Ludlow based Hazlin who manufacture bespoke, architectural veneered doors, panels and door sets for use in quality domestic residences, schools, hospitals, financial institutions and large construction projects throughout the UK.

The programme initiated in 2005 and funded through a £100,000 selective finance for investment (SFI) grant from Advantage West Midlands (AWM), includes machinery and personnel as well as the new buildings at a cost of £900,000. SFI is a form of financial assistance available to businesses across the West Midlands. There are a number of conditions for the claimant company to fulfil including the creation of new jobs, increased productivity and the generation of regional and national benefits in line with the West Midlands Economic Strategy.

Chris Jones MD at Hazlin said: “Having recently secured 10,000 sq. ft. of factory space in Tenbury, the new extension at the Bromfield site now places Hazlin in our strongest position yet to match the increase in demand for our products. Maintaining normal operations has not been easy whilst the building work was carried out and I must praise my workforce for their flexibility and dedication at a potentially difficult time. I would also like to thank the many people who supported us by attending the successful opening ceremony.”

Phil Langford, Business Relationships Manager at AWM said: Phil Langford, Grants Case Officer at Advantage West Midlands said: “We are delighted that the expansion at Hazlin will eventually create four new jobs for the local area. The SFI grant has helped a highly successful local company look confidently towards an even brighter future.”
